The "Early" Ocean View HotelThe Ocean View Hotel was built as a private residence during the summer of 1870 and converted into a private hotel in 1919.

Purchased and refurbished by Florence Jamieson in 1933 with hot and cold water provided in all rooms and gas fires.

Terms from 5.25 per person per week.

Extended in 1934 by Florence Jamieson

Two additional wings were added including main lounge, restaurant, two floors of bedrooms, games room and garage, total 37 - no private bathrooms.

Hotel closed 1940, requisitioned by War Office, used by Army Pay Corps.

Reopened May 1948 by Sue and Peter Jamieson

During 1948 to 1961 the Stable Block, Stable Coach House, 2 rooms above converted to cottage annexe.

Two bedrooms above main entrance.

Additional 3rd floor added included 17 bedrooms

Extension to restaurant, Hugh Jamieson joins Board.

Between 1962 and 1988 various improvements.

Renamed from The Chesterood Hotel in 2004 to The Ocean View Hotel.
